Graeme McDowell Finds Barclays Bad Time Warning Very Untimely.

Graeme McDowell found being given a time warning in taking a minute to putt very untimely on day two of the Barclays Championship in Paramus, New Jersey.

McDowell was standing over an eight foot putt on the par four seventh hole of the Ridgewood Country Club course when approached by rules official, Brad Fabel.

“I felt very annoyed about that,” said McDowell

“The group had been given a bad time warning and I actually thought the referee with our group (Brad Fabel) had left the vicinity, and I was grinding over an eight-fo0ter  and he then tells me I took a minute to hit the eight-footer.

“I didn’t feel I warranted a bad time as my ball was first plugged in the front trap and I chopped it out to eight feet, and I was the last man to putt but somehow he said I took a minute to hit my putt.

“So I was a little ‘P O’ about it but that’s life and you move on.”

However there was delight at the end of the round for McDowell in shooting a three under par 68 and be in the clubhouse sharing 13th place at four under par.

“I would be lying if I said I was playing my best these two days,” he said.

“This is a really tough golf course and I haven’t played all that great.

“I had worked hard on the range yesterday after my round but clearly it was the wrong stuff.  I went to swing ‘B’ on the range last night but then swing ‘B’ didn’t work really well today so I went back to swing ‘A’ and swing ‘A’ wasn’t great either.

“So I went to swing ‘C’ and that was also not great so there is an A, B, C  combo in there somewhere I need to go with over the weekend”.
