Former Masters champion Adam Scott confessed it was harder staring over his play-off putt to win last year at Augusta National than in ‘popping the question’ to his wife Marie Kojzar.
The duo were married in a very hush, hush ceremony on 17th April and four days after Scott’s defense of the Masters.
Scott’s parents had been present at Augusta and then joined their son in travelling on to Scott’s Bahamas residence where the ceremony was conducted in the backyard of Scott’s palatial abode.
In fact, Scott revealed he and his new wife had some fun with their ‘big day’ inviting close friends like Justin Rose and his wife to what appeared on the invitation as a ‘garden party’.

“We just said we having a party, so come on over,” said Scott after the third round in the Players Championship.
“So then they had no idea that it was going to happen. So that was the fun little game for me and Marie to play for awhile.
“And we figured we didn’t need a honeymoon, as our life if pretty much like a honeymoon all the time. So there was no real plans for any of that. We’ll just keep on going.”
I had asked Scott initially: “What’s harder, facing a play-off putt for the Masters or asking the woman you love to get married?”
He responded with a smile on his face: “The putt definitely, because I didn’t even have to ask. So I got out of that one. That was good.”
News of Scott’s marriage spread like wildfire but there was a few who had know of the marriage for some weeks including double Major winning, Rory McIlroy.
However in an age of 24/7 social media, and where any little tit bit of information seemingly finds it way onto Twitter or Facebook, Scott and his new wife did a good job of keeping news of their wedding quiet for as long as they did, in fact for about three weeks before it strangely had been leaked to the media.
In fact, it was Andrew ‘Chubby’ Chandler, the Chairman of ISM and who manages the affairs of the likes of Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke, who let slip the news when visiting the TPC Sawgrass Media Center on Friday.
His conversation with European Tour colleagues Jamie Corrigan (Telegraph) and Derek Lawrenson (Daily Mail) was overheard by Australian Associated Press (AAP) golf correspondent, Ben Everill.
Everill, who is seated to Corrigan’s immediate left, then waited his time to speak to Scott following his second round 67 that eventually saw the World No. 2 make the halfway cut in the $US 10m.
And Everill later revealed that he thought he was interviewing Scott about his engagement but with Scott providing Everill with the biggest scoop of his three-and-a-half years reporting for AAP.
“I don’t know how we managed to keep it a secret for so long,” admitted Scott.
“I thought that – we just wanted for it to be a secret for the day and then we haven’t told anyone to keep it a secret since, but I think people didn’t want to do the wrong thing by me.
“So I’ve got them right where I want them (smiling).”
Scott said it was too early whether marriage will change him as a person or a golfer indicating: “I don’t know. I’ve been married a couple of weeks, Bernie. but I think it’s good for me.
“I think it really suits me. I feel comfortable with it and I don’t know that it really should change me too much. But it’s exciting, looking to the future.”
And while Scott has appeared so often on the cover of various global golf magazines the very private golfer stressed he and his new wife would never agree to a front page feature spread in life style magazines such as Hello.
“No, that will never happen”, he stated.
And while the new Mrs. Scott has traveled to Australia often the newly weds will not be heading ‘Down Under’ to later this year when Scott is expected to defend his Australian Masters and Australian PGA Championship title, and also contest the Australian Open he lost by a shot last year to McIlroy.
