Adam Scott has revealed he was secretly married in his Bahamas backyard and four days after his Masters defence.
The Australian married long-time Swedish-born girlfriend Marie Kojzar in a small ceremony on April 17th.
Scott is the third Major winner in recent time to tie the knot in the Bahamas with 2011 Open Champion Darren Clarke getting married in the Bahamas in the week after the 2012 Masters.
And fellow Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell, who captured the 2010 US Open, was married in the Bahamas last September to his now expectant wife Kristin Stape.
According to agency reports Scott and Kojzar enjoyed no official engagement and with only a few friends and family on hand as they celebrated the occasion at Scott’s Bahamas residence.
In fact, Scott’s parents had been present at Augusta to support their son.
“It’s official. I am a settled down man and very happy,” said Scott.
“We just decided to get on with it, we’ve known each other long enough, so let’s go and jump right in the deep end.
“It was just our family and a few friends and obviously there are a lot of people we would have liked to have had there and who weren’t so that’s why we decided to have a very low key affair.
“It was more about not building it up into something too big that may have gotten out of hand but it was a fun event for everyone who was there and hopefully we will have fun celebrating with other friends when we catch up with them.”
Scott has been linked to a few beauties in his life including stunning Serbian-born tennis ace Ana Ivanovic and Hollywood actress Kate Hudson.
The 32-year Kojzar, according to Australian Associated Press, has been with Scott s since the mid 2000s before a split of a few years, reunited with the Queenslander before he claimed the 2013 Masters.
And according to Scott the bride did not don the traditional white dress while he wore a suit with bow tie.
“She doesn’t need a traditional wedding dress to look so beautiful,” beamed Scott.
“We dressed up a little bit but it was still in the backyard.”
