Rory McIlroy … “I’m Not Bothered Dropping Outside Top-10 On World Rankings”.

Double Major winning Rory McIlroy will tee-up in this week’s Wells Fargo Championship having slipped outside the top-10 on the World Rankings for a first time since December 2011.

However the current World No. 11 ranked player is unconcerned heading into this week’s $US 6.9m event at the Quail Hollow Golf Club located in the leafy suburbs to the south of Charlotte, North Carolina.

“It doesn’t bother me that I’m outside the top-10 and it’s the nature of the rankings,” he said.

“I’ve earned more world ranking points this year than the top three players in the world, so it’s not like I’ve had chance to win, and it’s just that I haven’t quite won.

“It’s to do with the fast start and the great year I had in 2012, and now all these points are just starting to come off, and that’s the reason.

“But hopefully I can get myself back up into that sort of territory I have been at for the last few years.”

McIlroy, who turns 25 on Sunday, will be looking for the birthday present of a first PGA Tour victory since late 2012 and his second success at Quail Hollow since shooting a final round 62 to win a maiden Stateside success in 2010.
