Organisers have spiced-up this week’s 25th anniversary Dubai Desert Classic grouping 14-Major winning Tiger Woods with double Major victor Rory McIlroy for the opening two rounds of the event.
Joining the duo will by defending Dubai champion, Stephen Gallacher of Scotland.
Woods joined Gallacher, along with triple winning Presidents Cup captain Fred Couples, for Former Champions Challenge played over 18 holes of the magnificently prepared Majlis course.
Strangely, Woods had only played in Gallacher’s company once before this week and that was when the duo faced each other on the opening day of the 1995 Walker Cup at Royal Portcawl in Wales.
Woods was then 20-years of age and having won straight US Amateur titles whereas Gallacher was a year older and qualified for the GB & I side winning the Scottish Amateur Stroke Play title and also the prestigious Lytham Trophy.
Here is the full draw for the first two days of this week’s $2.5m event with 1 in front of time meaning off the 1st tee and 10 indicating hitting off the 10th tee.
