Paul McGinley Looks Forward To An Augusta Meal With Tom Watson.

Paul McGinley is already looking forward to an Augusta meal with USA Ryder Cup opposing captain, Tom Watson.

The Irishman and Watson have arranged to meet in April during Masters Week, and where McGinley will be reporting on the 2014 season-opening Major for SKY Sports TV.

“Yes, Tom and I have arranged to have dinner together, so that should be nice and I’m looking forward to it,” said the Irishman.

It will be there first meeting since late last year when Watson travelled to Scotland for the Ryder Cup – ‘Year to Go’ celebrations.

McGinley ended his second event of the New Year with a final round 72 in the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in Doha.

However not for a first time competing in the Qatari capital McGinley found himself hampered by a 7,400 yard (6767 meters) more suitable to the big-hitters than his medium length drives.

“I played very solid all week and while I only made six bogeys all week my birdie count was low,” he said.

“But the combination of soft fairways and firm greens, and a 7,400 yard golf course with no wind doesn’t play into my hands.

“Overall it was a pretty decent week.  I played well and struck the ball well and could have putted better.

“So it was just one of those weeks where it was hard for me to compete given the golf course didn’t play into my strengths.”

McGinley’s next competitive appearance will be on the PGA Tour competing in the February 6th starting AT & T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

His next European Tour appearance will be in Morocco for the March 13th starting Hassan 11 Trophy.
