South African Dawie Van Der Walt can lay credit to three and an unwanted fourth list of European Tour ‘First’ following the first round of the Volvo Champions event here in Durban.
First player to tee off in 2014 – Dawie Van Der Walt
First player to record an eagle in 2014 – Germany’s Marcel Siem (3rd hole)
First player to record a birdie in 2014 – Dawie Van Der Walt (3rd hole)
First player to post a bogey in 2014 – South African Darren Fichardt (1st hole)
First player to post a double bogey in 2014 – South African Dawie Van Der Walt (4th hole)
First player to post a triple bogey in 2014 – Korean and Australian-based Jin Jeong (4th hole)e
First player to lead an event in 2014 – Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin with a round of 67.
… and the first player believed to have been given a first ‘bad time’ of 2014 – Jin Jeong (8th hole) and with playing partner Dawie Van Der Walt the first to incur two ‘bad times’ with warnings after a putt on the 8th and then on the 12th hole. Both players, who were first out, were first ‘on the clock’ as early as the 5th hole.
