Jason Day admitted his young son, Dash is having a hard time getting used to Vegemite – the favourite Australian breakfast spread.

Day lives with his family and Dash was born in Ohio.

But while Day’s wife, Ellie has got used Vegemite he’s having trouble getting Dash used to the product that first hit the Australian breakfast tables in 1923.

“Dash tried Vegemite once but he spat it out,” said Day laughing.

“I eat a lot and the good thing is that I can buy it in the States at the world markets, so I have no trouble getting my hands on a jar.

“Also you can buy Darrell Lea Australian-made licquorice but then you can’t eat too much of it.

“But I’m going to work hard to get Dash liking Vegemite.

“Ellie loves it and I can’t get her away from the stuff which is good because when most Americans smell it they’re saying;  “Why are you putting that stuff down your throat?

“So hopefully over time I can introduce Dash to him.”
