Tiger Woods ‘No’ To Joining European Tour But ‘Yes’ To Drug Testing.

Tiger Woods has admitted that despite confessing he had been close some years back to joining the European Tour he will not take up membership.

It has always been argued that if Woods were to become a European Tour member he would have easily finishing the leading money-earner on both sides of ‘The Pond’.

You only have to look at the dual PGA and European Race to Dubai counting events with Woods having earning $3,922,612 from eight counting events.

When converted to Euros it amounts to Euro 2,901,160 and that place Woods Euro 697,900 ahead of Henrik Stenson who has amassed Euro 2,203,260 from 15 Race to Dubai tournaments.

“I thought about it years back in the early 200os I was thinking to play maybe seven, maybe even eight events that I guess were co-sanctioned,”  he said.

“The minimum number to be a (European) member, I think was 11 at the time.  Obviously, they’ve added a few more.  But I didn’t go down that route, and Monty ended up getting a few of those titles those years.

“But it was certainly something that I did consider, and decided not to do it.”

And Woods had been asked about the PGA Tour doping charges against Fijian Vijay Singh and while admitting he was unaware of recent developments the 14-time Major winner disclosed he’s been drug tested five times this season.

“That’s usually about the number for most guys,” he said.

However reigning US Open champion Justin Rose revealed he has been asked just twice this year to provide a ‘sample’.
