Golf Channel Has To Cut Chamblee Free … Woods & Steinberg Speak To www.golfbytourmiss.com

The Golf Channel has to cut Brandel  ‘Shambles’ Chamblee free if it’s to maintain any working relationship with Tiger Woods.

This is clear after Woods and his long-time manager Mark Steinberg both stated exclusively to me yesterday at the Match at Mission Hills that while they are prepared to move on, the ball is in the court of the Golf Channel.

It was the first time Woods had spoken about the controversy and he did so in my coverage of the event for Associated Press.

I first spoke to Woods as he headed from the practice range to the practice green.  Steinberg then approached me and we discussed Woods comments before Woods and Rory McIlroy teed up on the Blackstone course on Hainan Island.

Steinberg, like Woods, clearly expressed their view to ‘move on’ despite Chamblee inflaming his original article with comments to APs Doug Ferguson.

It was these comments that Woods singled out yesterday:  “The whole issue has been very disappointing as he (Chamblee) didn’t really apologise and he sort of reignited the whole situation.”

At the conclusion of Woods match with McIlroy, I approached Steinberg to clarify specifically what he meant in remarking:  “The ball is in the court of the Golf Channel.”

His response was clear in that the Golf Channel has shown its bias in failing to report on air what is now the biggest controversy in golf this season,

And with Chamblee’s credibility in shambles and now clearly an embarrassment to the Golf Channel they cannot be expected to have any working relationship with Woods while Chamblee is still working for station.
