Day two of the 95th PGA Championship is turning into golf’s battle for the Ashes with Australia’s Adam Scott leading England’s Lee Westwood by three shots near the turn on a rain-softened Oak Hill Country Club course.
Rain has been falling all morning and is predicted to continue for much of the day in the year’s final major.
At this stage the Rochester course is holding up well, and while it’s not cold, it’s getting increasingly uncomfortable for spectators and those working at the championship.

And no sooner had I typed this piece and Scott was observed three-putting the 17th, including missing a two foot par for par, that dropped him back to seven under par throught eight holes but then Westwood bogeyed his 11th to hand his Aussie rival a three shot leading cushion,
Of coures, England last week wrapped-up the real Ashes Series when rain brought to a half the final day of the Third Test Match that meant England retained The Ashes despite two matches still to be played.
Westwood was on the 11th tee at 10.50am local time (3.50pm UK & Irish) at five under par.
And sandwiching Westwood on the leader board was another Aussie in Jason Day who was at four under par after 11 holes having picked up one shot in his second round.
