Padraig Harrington already seems to be looking ahead to next week’s PGA Tour Wyndham Championship after his 76 left his sharing 147th place in a now 154-player field following the withdrawal of American Bo Van Pelt.
Harrington had 31 putts but it was the longest club in the bag hurting the Irishman the most as he could hit just eight of the 14 fairways.
He was already struggling to be five over par after nine holes that included taking a double at his sixth hole, and while he got back to four over with a birdie at his 10th Harrington posted a second double bogey at his 16th.

“The expectations were reasonably high coming here this week but I just wasn’t very comfortable,” he said.
“I haven’t been very comfortable around the greens last week or this week, which isn’t great, but ultimately you are going to miss a few greens, and that didn’t help
“I’m hitting the ball well, and I was reasonably comfortable and I didn’t envisage too many problems.
“But taking the double at the 15th or my sixth hole was a big error.”
And when asked what he thought he could do in his second round, Harrington already seemed to have thrown in the white towel saying he would treat the round as ‘practice’ for next week.
