Louis Oosthuizen Takes The Wheel As Newest Mercedes-Benz Ambassador.

Champion South African Louis Oosthuizen has become the latest superstar golfer to sign on as an ambassador for Mercedes-Benz.

Also as part of the arrangement that will see Oostuizen now wear the German car manufacturing giant’s logo on his attire it also announced it will be supporting Oosthuizen’s junior golf foundation.

 “I’m pleased to announce I am joining the Mercedes-Benz family as a golf ambassador!” said the 2010 Open Champion.

“Their dedication to golf for the past 30 years has been first class and I am looking forward to working with a brand that is as passionate about the game as I am.”

Louis Oosthuizen (2)Oosthuizen won numerous amateur titles before turning professional in 2002 at the age of 19.

The South African then captured his first European Tour title in 2010 in winning the Open de Andalucia de Golf. He followed that with his first major championship, the 139th Open Championship played over the Old Course at St. Andrews, winning by a massive seven shots.

Last year Oosthuizen went so close to winning the Masters in losing a play-off to American Bubba Watson after bringing the crowd to it’s feet with a remarkable albatross ‘2’ at the second hole on the final day at Augusta.

Earlier this year, Oosthuizen delighted his home country supporters in capturing the Volvo Champions at Durban.

In total, Oosthuizen has won 11 times as a professional.

Louis Oosthuizen’s vehicles of choice are the performance driven ML 63 AMG in South Africa and the GL 450 in the United States, whilst his foundation, “The Louis Oosthuizen Junior Golf Academy,” founded in 2009, will utilise a new-generation Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van which will be out-fitted to operate as a mobile golfing clinic.
