Former Open Champion Darren Clarke will join Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry in next week’s Valero Texas Open in San Antonio, and the last qualifying event for the Masters.

While Clarke and Harrington qualify through PGA Tour exemptions Lowry has been afforded invitations to contest the $6.2m event.

The three Irish have never contested the event and with Clarke and Harrington using the event as a warm-up before heading to Augusta National the week after.

For Lowry it will be his Augusta ‘Last Chance Saloon’ as he needs to win in San Antonio is he’s to join Harrington, Clarke, Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell and amateur Alan Dunbar in the field for the year’s first Major.

Also in the field will be England’s Ian Poulter and like his three Irish colleagues, Poulter is aslo competing in San Antonio for a first occasion.
