Luke Donald Determined To Retain Tampa Bay Crown

Luke Donald displayed he was not about to give back his trophy without a fight after posting a 67 on day three of the Tampa Bay Championship in Florida.

The World No. 3 was just as noticeable on the Copperhead course in a round of four bogeys and no bogeys, as the fluorescent green shirt Donald was wearing.

Donald, who heads to Kuala Lumpur this week for the European Tour’s co-sanctioned Malaysian Open, ended his round at four under par and just two behind the leading trio of South African George Coetzee (68), former Open Champion, Justin Leonard (67) and Kevin Steelman (65).

The Masters - Round Three“It’s always nice to go around this course and not drop a shot,” said Donald.

“I wanted to shoot five or six under and nearly got there as I had a couple of putts lip out, and I didn’t birdie any of the par fives so it could have been a real low round.

“Now depending on what the leaders do this afternoon hopefully I am not too far behind.”

However the only sour note for Donald was learning from his manager after his round England had lost the 6 Nations Grand Slam title to rival Wales.
