Justin Rose Sets About Seventh Win In Nine Weeks For Miracle Of Medinah Stars.

England’s Justin Rose quickly set out looking to make it seven wins in nine weeks for victorious European Ryder Cup team members on day one of the Emirates Australian Open in Sydney.

Rose, who first competed in the event 14 years ago, posted a round of 68 in bright and breezy conditions to be sharing second place on four under par on the Lakes Course.

Australia’s John Senden, a former champion, heads the field by two.

Rose birdied five of his closing nine holes in a continuing feel good factor following the ‘Miracle at Medinah’.

Since Europe’s stunning Chicago turnaround nine weeks ago six of the side, including Rose, have tasted success – Rose (Turkish Airlines World Golf Final), Peter Hanson (BMW Masters), Ian Poulter (WGC – HSBC Champions), Rory McIlroy (DP World Tour Championship), Martin Kaymer (Nedbank Golf Challenge) and Graeme McDowell (World Challenge).

“My goal this week is to end my ear with another win but more important is to end the year with a disciplined process,” Rose said.

“I don’t want to take my eye off the ball at the end of the year. I came here to Sydney sharp and I want to trust everything that has worked so well for me all year long.

“I stayed focussed today and was really pleased to finish four under in the tricky conditions.”
