New York Jets Quarteback Greg McElroy now has a new follower in World No. 1 ranked golfer Rory McIlroy.

McIlroy tweeted that he was delighted McElroy, starting in his first game, was pivotal in helping the Jets win a close encounter 7 to 6 against the Arizona Cardinals.

McIlroy, who is currently in the States with tennis girlfriend, Caroline Wozniacki tweeted straight after the game:  “About time the Jets got a good QB!!  Ha!”

McElroy was the Jets third-string quarterback and is likely to remain in the role for the next game.
