Sweden’s Fredrik Andersson Hed exemplified what is good about the game of golf in an incident that unfortunately led to his disqualification from the Barclays Singapore Open.
Andersson Hed hit a poor tee shot at the par four 11th hole, and the second hole of his round, during the third round and obviously showed his disgust by slamming the club into a sprinkler head.

However the former Italian Open winner thought nothing of it and continued to use the driver up to the third hole or the 12th hole of his play when he noticed the angle of the shaft looked different.
The Swede, who was two over par in total at the time, immediately called a referee who inspected the shaft and agreed that it was slightly askew.
And as Andersson-Hed continued to use the club the referee had no option other to disqualify him from the $US 6m event.
He was disqualified under Rule 4-3b and had no option but to immediately leave the Sentosa Resort course.
The Rule dictates disqualification if a club is damaged other than in the normal course of play and then used, and also that the benefit of any doubt lies with the rest of the field rather than the player, so she was disqualified.
www.golfbytourmiss.com congratulates Fredrik on his honesty and integrity.
