Colsaerts is competing in a second straight PGA Tour event courtesy of an sponsor’s invitation following his appearance in the Ryder Cup.

Colsaerts in San Martin having earned $494,386 in eight PGA Tour counting events this year and is just $104,608 behind the 125th place on the 2012 money list currently being held by American Jeff Maggert who has earned $598,994 from 28 events.

“When you get a chance to play this tour with all these players, the course you play on such a big stage, it would be stupid not to consider it,” said Colsaerts to AP.

“I’ve played in Europe for a lot of years. It’s an unbelievable tour to play on and get your grades up. But once you get a taste of what the possibilities here are, they get you pretty excited.”

Of course, Colsaerts is no stranger to competing in the States having played seven of his eight PGA counting events in the States this year while he had two seperate visits last season.

However it was last year when Colsaerts really stamped a presence on the world stage capturing the Volvo China Open.  Earlier this year he went close to success in the Volvo Champions before defeating U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell to win the Volvo World Match-Play Championship in Spain.

Colsaerts big breakthough in the Majors came in July when he finished in a share of seventh in The Open and a result that propelled him into the limelight for eventual Ryder Cup wildcard selection.

“”I’ve been to the U.S. quite a lot,” he added.

“But when you realize how many unbelievable golf courses you have around the country, it’s quite unbelievable for somebody like me coming from such a small country to have a chance to play golf around an unbelievable country like this and play these fantastic courses.”
