Rory McIlroy and his tennis girl friend heart throb, Caroline Wozinacki went to the movies Friday night in Belfast and sitting through the new romance comedy – ‘Five-Year Engagement

The movie stars Jason Segal and Emily Blunt.

However when asked about the movie and whether there was any similar plans between sport’s hottest couple, McIlroy dodged the question as good as trying to connect with a Wozinacki ace.

“The movie wasn’t my choice but it was actually okay and I would recommend seeing it,” said McIlroy.

“But then I wouldn’t go see it on my own and it was a nice evening.”

Wozinacki should have been at Wimbledon but the current World No. 7 was bowled out of the year’s third Grand Slam event in the opening round.

She headed straight for Northern Ireland and has been by boyfriend McIlroy’s side for the opening three rounds including braving wind and rain for much of he morning before McIlroy signed for a 71 and a six under par tally.

“It was tough, it was tough out there, and I felt I played pretty well,” he said.

“I could have been a few shots lower.  I gave myself a lot of chances for birdies but didn’t quite take them.  But you know, it’s a decent score.

“I’m  a little frustrated coming off the golf course because I do feel like I could have been better, but 71 out there, I’ll take.”

And McIlroy revealed also he’s packed a new driver into the bag, a Titleist 913 and boasts he’s already picked up a further 15 yards on the past driver that has been in the bag for some two years and also helped steer him to victory in last year’s U.S. Open.

“I have been testing the new 913 and all the Trackman numbers suggested I was hitting the ball longer and further,” he said.

“I’m getting less spin which is great in the wind and it carries 15-yards further in calm conditions.

“The Titleist guys had it ready for me when I got here on Monday and I put it straight in the bag.

“I had my previous driver for almost two years but this one just performs so much better.  I feel like I am hitting the ball a lot better than I am with this new driver and I feel that’s going to make a huge difference, especailly around Lytham.

“I am hitting the ball so much better, starting it on line, and controlling my ball flight better.”

McIlroy indicated he will return to Royal Lytham and St. Annes later next week and for a first time in some five years since three-putting the final green to lose the 2007 Lytham Trophy to Scotland’s Lloyd Saltman.

And while McIlroy and Saltman were then on the same GB & I Walker Cup team later that year, Saltman has since struggled to retain his European Tour card whereas McIlroy heads to golf’s oldest Major as one of the favourites to capture the Claret Jug.
