Rory McIlroy Will Be Fined By Tour For Club Throwing.

The European Tour has confirmed Rory McIlroy will be fined for a club throwing incident during last week’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

McIlroy frustratingly tossed his club in the direction of the green after playing a poor shot into a bunker at the 15th hole at Wentworth and on route to missing the halfway cut at the flagship event.

David Garland, Director of Tour Operations indicated while he is yet to look at video evidence of the incident, he is certain from hearing about the incident he will fine the current World No. 2 for conduct unbecoming a professional.

“I am still awaiting the video disc from the BBC so I haven’t actually seen the incident,” said Garland.

“I even went onto ‘You Tube’ to look for it as ususally you can view most any video of any incident.

“But if Rory threw the club in the direction of his golf bag then the Tour doesn’t really have a problem with that. However if he threw the club forward in the direction of the green, and that very much seems the case, then I will have to fine him.

“So until I receive the disc from the BBC I won’t be doing anything.”

It’s believed the fine for such behaviour is £500 but then the Tour never releases details of fines.
