World No. 10 Justin Rose admitted he battled vertigo in recording a five under par 67 on the opening day of the flagship BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

Rose managed six birdies in his round to be among five players tied in third place and just a stroke behind the leading duo of Scotland’s David Drysdale and Ireland’s Peter Lawrie.
Rose was off to a great start with four birdies in his first seven holes but ended without managing to birdie three of the four par fives – the 12th, 17th and final holes.
However he was observed during his round taking pills and later admitted he was suffering vertigo.
“This morning I had this weirdest thing, and I guess it was some sort of vertigo,” he said.
“I was struggling with it, and I was nearly falling over. My whoel morning routine was out. I was sitting in the doctor’s chair for a while. He gave me an anti-nausea pills and I felt fine all the way around.
“It’s not ideal but sometimes it lowers the expectations and it’s funny how that often works in your favour.”
Helping lift Rose’s spirits was a huge home support crowd in conditions more akin to Spain and Portugal rather than England.
“Great crowds today and they have come out in force with the weather being what it was,” said Rose.
“It was just a fun day’s golf and great to be back in England.”
