Thirteen year-old Finley Morrison happily joined his family travelling to Majorca to cheer on his 40-year-old father as he went about winding-up his three wins professional career.
Not for a second did Dad think he’d win the Hotel Planner, Race to Majorca, Rolex Grand Final on the Spanish holiday isle nor did young Finley expect to end-up caddieing for his father and thirdly never in the minds of any member of the family did they expect ‘Jimbo’ to win.
Well, in one of the best golfing stories all season Morrison did just that and while he was ‘the story’ of the touranment, so too was young Finley and with the love, friendship and golfing rapport between father-and-son just priceless.
Talking of priceless as there was a tournament purse of Euro 500,000 and with the new champion pocketing the Euro 85,000 first prize as the 2025 Rolex Grand Final champion.
SHOULD DAD @jimbogolf1 PAY SON FINLEY THE % VICTORY CADDIE FEE ❓

Given the average payment for a caddy working pro tournaments is 10%, one must wonder if Morrison will transfer the 10% Euro 8,500 of his prize purse to Finley or does Dad simply handover a little pocket money or maybe a new cell phone to his proud son?
With a big smile on my own face, I ask our readers what do you think?
The now 40-year old Morrison, who had been playing so poorly that actually took on the role working on-course early this year for SKY Sports Golf, arrived in Majorca as the oldest player in the 45-player field but age was no barrier as he muscled his way from 36th on the money list at the start of the week to sixth, and inside the required leading 20 with somewhat shock in comfortably securing his 2026 DP World Tour card.
It comes after Morrison broke a decade long winning wait between his 2015 Spanish Open success to July this year after securing victory at the Blot Play9 event in France.
He had a first Tour triumph in 2010 and now he’s won four times in just over a 15-year span.
‘I’m glad it’s over with – put it that way,’ he said, adding that he couldn’t even feel his arms on the tee box at the 18th, ultimately going down for a bogey on the last”,
Morrison will now return to the DP World Tour next season following a year-long hiatus, something that he had not been foreseen at the beginning of the week, revealing also that he came without a caddie or a bag.
‘I didn’t have a clue. I arrived with a tour bag. I didn’t have a caddie,’ said Morrison in disbelief.
“Finley was great and you couldn’t fault him. He looked a little nervous towards the end of the round but together we proved a winning combination, and I’m just so proud of him”,
That was very evident when father and son embraced before heading off to the scorer’s enclosure.
However, forget thoughts of Finley returning in the New Year to caddie for dad.
‘He’s [Finley’s] got a half-past six alarm for school tomorrow morning…’ Morrison said laughing.
Welcome back Jimbo
