Europe On Threshold Of Historic Record-Smashing Success Over Hapless Americans

In the near 100-year history of the Ryder Cup and since the inagural event in 1927 , GB & I and now Europe have won 15 encounters while rivals the USA has won 27 of the 44 matches.

Europe’s biggest win was both in 2004 and 2006 winning each of the pair by a stunning nine points including their 18 1/2 success at Oakland Hills and then two years later by the same winning margin at the K. Club in Ireland.

At the close of day two, Europe enjoy the biggest lead heading to the final round leading by seven points and that’s the biggest leading advantage since the 2004 Ryder Cup when Europe led 11 to 6 heading to the final day at Oakland Hills.

Now with a day remaining in the 2025 Ryder Cup and Luke Donald will lead his men in the final day of the 45th Ryder Cup leading by seven points at 11 1/2 to 4 1/2, only now needing to secure 14 points, at worst, to retain the trophy and 14 1/2 to win outright.

However, Europe will be looking for much more than just 2 1/2 points, as Europe will be looking to really rub it in and truly have their USA rivals eat humble pie given the unsavoury taste we’ve witnessed over the two opening days.

In one of the most astonishing days in the events history, Donald’s boys delivered in the most toxic and somewhat ill-tempered environment.

Not only have the European players been sickened at being trashed by the locals, it also turned ugly with Donald’s players being abused with vile taunts and actions.

However, and as we witnessed at day’s end, the visitors have not been fazed so much so the day ended with Europeans united as they gathered on the 18th green in signing “Ole, Ole, Ole”.
