David Drysdale is now out to celebrate his first tournament as a 50-year-old in seeking a tee-time into next week’s PGA Champions Tour event at the famed Mission Hills course at Rancho Mirage in California.
Drysdale and wife/manager/caddy Vicky will join a current field of 65 players teeing-up Monday (March 24th) looking to secure one of three spots into $2.2m Galleri Classic and the second event of the new season.
The Callaway Golf attached Scottsh golfer had sought a place last Monday into the Hoag Classic that is currently being staged at the Newport Beach course but after a round that included seven birdies, he agonisingly missed qualifying by a single shot.
So, it will be hopefully a case for the Drysdale’s of a second time lucky at the Bermuda Dunes qualifying venue that is located around 85-miles south-east of the Goose Green qualifying venue from earlier this week.
Drysdale celebrated turning 50 on Wednesday with wife, Vicky posting a great shot of ‘Double D’ chilling out with a cold beverage

And looking at the Bermuda Dunes field it will be much the same faces as last Monday with Welshmn Philip Pwrice and the Swedish duo of Patrick Sjoland and double Ryder Cup vice-captain Robert Karlsson again in the field. Though making an appearance on Monday will be popular Frenchman Thomas Levet.
Sjoland secured the third spot into Hoag Classic qualifier but disappointingly struggled on day one yesterday (Friday) with a 74 to be near the tail of field and tied with American and fellow qualifier Dave Mathias, who was second qualifer, and also shot a 74. The top Goose Creek qualifying spot was grabbed by Dickie Pride who signed for 70 to be sharing 36th place.
Aussie Brendan Jones leads way by a shot thanks to his opening 64.
NOW HAVING TURNED THE BIG 5⃣ 0⃣ ….

Speaking ahead of last week’s Hoag Classic Drysdale said: “It promises to be an exciting season ahead with Vicky and I looking forward to it.
“Funny though I was a rookie a few years back in joining the Asian Tour and now a rookie again in the over-50s tour.
“We’ve got three Champions Tour weeks, so it would be great to qualify for all three while I’m exempt into the Legends Tour gets underway in Barbados at the end of April and I’m guaranteed entry into that event.
“It’s going to tough just trying to secure one of three spots but then if you play well, you never know.
“I know what would be great 50th birthday reward, and that’s to be playing all four”.
Drysdale finds himself exempt into Champions Tour Monday qualifying events by finishing 12th late last year in the Champions Tour qualifying school in Phoenix.
