MacIntyre’s Super Singapore Start Spoilt By Back Nine Bloopers.

Top Scot Robert MacIntyre found himself relegated to the slow lane after what had been a fast start on day one of the now rain-shortened Porsche Singapore Classic.

MacIntyre jumped straight into contention with four birdies in seven holes but then found himself left behind after he posted a double-bogey and three bogeys over his inward nine for a one-over 73 on the host Laguna National course.

His double-bogey was at the par-3 17th where sponsors Porsche are donating a $210,000 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Metallic Green motor to the first player to ace the hole, and a tee shot for an elevated tee to an island green (Bob’s shot at the 50 second mark in video hereunder).

The Oban lefty tumbled from being inside the top-10 and will start the second round in a share of 83rd and two shots outside the expected cut-off mark of one-under and where Colin Montgomerie won the title 21-years ago.

Also on one-over is newly-crowned Joburg Open champ Calum Hill.

After nine inches of rain Thursday meant no play, officials decided the event will now be played over-54 holes and leaving MacIntyre much work to do in his second last event before the April 10th commencing Masters.

MacIntyre has confirmed he will travel from Singapore straight to Texas for next week’s Houston Open and thus leave him a week free before heading to Augusta National.

Ewen Ferguson leads the five-strong Scottish contingent and capping his round birdieing four holes in succession in a score of 70 while Richie Ramsay shot a 72 and Grant Forrest a 74.

The England duo of Marcus Armitage and Matthew Jordan share the lead with 65s.

Jordan said: “I’m very pleased. There’s been a lot of rain this week, we couldn’t play the pro-am and then we wouldn’t play yesterday. It’s been an interesting week but I’m just really happy with how today went.

“It’s phenomenal, it’s insane. The amount of water – I think it was 200ml, we had nearly a foot, and there is not one puddle out there. It’s really impressive. It’s always drained well but there was a lot of rain”.
