Double US Open winning Bryson DeChambeau posted a four-under 67 to be just two shots from the lead post the first round of the LIV Golf Adelaide event in Australia.
DeChambeau grabbed seven birdies in a round that also included a bogey and a ninth hole double-bogey on the host The Grange course in the South Australian state capital.
It has the Crushers star sharing fourth place and just two adrift of England’s Sam Horsfield.
And in speaking with the media post his round, DeChambeau was reminded of his maiden visit ‘Down Under’ a decade ago when, as the reigning US Amateur champion he was afforded an invitation to compete in the 2015 Australian Masters at the Huntingdale course in Melbourne.

Legendary Aussie golfer Peter Senior, and then aged 56, posted a second straight weekend round 68 to win the title by two shots and for a third occasion.
Senior had won the Australian PGA Championship as a 51 year old in 2010, the Australian Open in atrocious final round weather at The Lakes in 2012, and then a triple Australian Masters victory crown.
The victory marked his 22 Australian win since taking the South Australian Open in 1979.
DeChambeau, and still an amateur, was impressive having come from a share of 11th after three rounds and then sign for a 67, ending two shots adrift of Senior in a three-way share of second,
“Huntingdale was amazing”, recalled DeChambeau.
“Peter Senior beat my butt, unfortunately. That old fart got me (smiling).
“But what a legend he is. He played some incredible golf. I finished second as an amateur. That was fun”.
DeChambeau also was afforded an invitation to contest the following week’s Australian Open in Sydney, the tournament won by now fellow LIV star Matt Jones and with DeChambeau sharing 30th place.
“The Australian Open, played pretty well”, said DeChambeau.
“Played actually with Lee Westwood the third round. I don’t think he liked me very much. Don’t clickbait that, by the way, I’m just sayin’. I love Lee Westwood; we have a good relationship now. But it was funny that day; maybe he was just frustrated or something.
“But going back to golf, I think this type of golf is much more of a links style type of golf but with an Australian flavor and flair, which I thoroughly like. Hard, firm and fast, you can do some fun stuff out here. You can hit some 430-yard drives if you get the right wind with the right bounce, for me at least, so it’s fun doing that. Then it can be really brutal.
“It’s fun. I just love and enjoy the test of golf over here, especially when the wind is down. I’m not the best wind player, but I like the bounciness of the golf course. I like firm greens, firm surroundings”.
