Penge Admits ‘Genuine & Honest Mistake’ Over Betting Disqualification.

English golfer Marco Penge admits it was a ‘genuine and honest mistake’ after being fined £2,000 and suspended from DP World Tour competition for three months till 13th February, 2025.

Penge was found guilty for breaching the European Tour Integrity Programme after placing bets on golf though, as he says, not one bet on himself rather just sporting events, in general.

As he stated:  “My bets were all for entertainment purposes to make watching golf more fun – just like most would do if it was something like the Grand National or other sporting events”.

And in reading his side of the story, via his @PengeMarco ‘X’ account, and noting the paltry amount of some $250 involved, it would seem to all fair-minded golfers that Penge has been serioulsy penalised for what was never a deliberate or premeditated action on his part nor in anyway was he betting on his own efforts inside the ropes.

As such, one would expect his honest apology and his decison to attend classes to be the end of the matter but that’s sadely for the young DP World Tour player that’s not been the case.

Penge’s tweet had already attracted close to 10,000 ‘likes’ within an hour of posting his ‘apology’
