Bubba: Would Love Rory To Call Wishing To Become LIV Range Goats Team Member

Double major winning Bubba Watson has ended his season missing the cut in the PIF Saudi International but as a LIV Golf team ‘owner’ he joked he’d love to see Rory McIlroy apply for a spot in his team.

Watson, 46 looks likely to be relegated from LIV competition for next year after an indifferent season for the Range Goats team leader though that has yet to be formally confirmed.

But in a bizarre scenario the double major winner is now charged with finding a ‘playing’ replacement

“My dream scenario is to play next year, so we are just going to wait out and see what happens and see who’s available, and what we think may be best for the Range Goats”, said Watson talking to the media here in Riyadh.

“I’m also the owner, if I really want to, I can put myself in there. We’ve got to just see what’s out there, and see what my team-mates want to do but I want them involved as I cannot dictate what happens.

“Rory might call me and say ‘hey man, can I have a spot?’ I don’t know. That’s what I’m saying. We’ve got to wait and see.”

“I would give it to him fast and I would sit at home and watch him play – I take that back, I would caddie for him, make sure he had enough water and all that stuff!”

The foursome of Aussie Cam Smith (64), Joaquin Niemann (66) and the American pair of Peter Uhilein (65) and Logan McAlister (63) head to the weekend leading at 11-under

Uihlein is coming off a second Tour victory this year at last weeks International Series Qatar.
