Law Buoyed By Aussie Open & Delighted To Be Home For Daughter’s Birthday

Scot David Law arrives home on high after securing a best finish in six months at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Law battled the changing conditions producing a closing 71 to share 20th at seven-under and 11 shots behind shock American winner Ryggs Johnston on the Kingston Heath course.

Scot David Law posts his best finish in some months with a T20th placing at the ISPS Handa Open.

Johnston, competing in just a 12th event as a pro and only his second on the DP World Tour after qualifying off this year’s secondary Challenge Tour, won by three and denying the all-Aussie LIV ‘Crushers’ team of Marc Leishman (T3rd), Lucas Herbert (T5th) and Open champ Cam Smith (T39).

Law’s effort matches a similar finish at last June’s Scandinavian Mix but after losing his card at the end of this DP World Tour season he jumped straight in as No. 28 on the 2025 rankings.

Law said: “It’s been an amazing week playing two of the best golf courses you’ll ever play and it just seems a bit of a shame to play them both in the same week.

“So, on top of two amazing courses, it was a really enjoyable tournament while the weather was a bit of a shame on Saturday, though today was superb and as a result great the crowds were today.

“After what transpired at Q-School I was not in the best frame of mind coming down to Australia for the two events and nice to be heading home with a decent finish under my belt”.

Also delighting Law is that he will have home for daughter Penelope’s sixth birthday.

He said: “I’m heading back to Scotland a little bit more positive than last week after missing the cut in Brisbane.

“It’s been a pretty tough year but it is what it is and I’m accepting the battle.

“Also, it’s my daughter’s birthday this Thursday so I’ve been at home for two of those and looking forward to being home.”

Law will then wind-up his year contesting the December 19th commencing Mauritius Open.
