Exclusive: Scottish Foursome Jet Into Seoul Looking To ‘Be Part Of The Magic’.

“Be Part Of The Magic” was the promo running all the way down both sides of the Emirates A380 airliner carrying some 70 Race to Dubai players along with caddies and officials that flew last Sunday from Spain and touching down some 16 hours later in Seoul, South Korea.

The charter flight carried the hopes of all seeking to satisfy different goals in this week’s official final ‘regular’ event of the 2024 DP World Tour season ahead two limited field UAE events in the first two weeks of next month to bring down the season curtain.

Though for 40 of those Tour players in Seoul this week, including Scot David Law, they are currently lying outside of the leading 114 on the Race to Dubai money-list and must climb this mountain in the South Korean capital if they wish to retain their DP World Tour card for next year.

Others in this bracket include Spain’s Rafa Cabrera-Bello (12st) and the England duo of James Morrison (122nd) and Eddie Pepperell (124th).

A further 33 players teeing-up this week on the host Jack Nicklaus Club course are presently lying 113 to 71st and their  goal will be to break into the top-70 to be assured of teeing-up in next fortnight’s top-70 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and boasting a prize purse of $9m.

Among those in this 113 to 71 bracket are Scot’s Richie Ramsay (79th) and Scott Jamieson (85th).  Also at No. 90 is defending Genesis champion, Pablo Larrazabal.

Then there is those presently lying 70th to 60th and while looking to be competing in Abu Dhabi they harbour a wish also to break into the top-60 on the Race to Dubai to be assured of teeing-in the $10m DP World Tour Championship season final commencing on November 14th in Dubai.

Seven others are presently inside the top-60 with Japan’s Rikuya Hoshino, and No.10 on the Race to Dubai, the highest placed this week.

Ramsay was among the top-20 finishers at last week’s Estrella Damm Andalucia Masters and jumped four places to 79th on the Race to Dubai, to be now just nine places shy of also moving onto Abu Dhabi.

He posted a tweet of the Emirates A380 that brought the players from Spain to Seoul and the Airbus sporting the “Be Part Of The Majic” message.

Of course, Ramsay and could do with some magic this week on the the fourth best Korean golf course, and  in a country now boasting over 500 golf courses, as a year ago he finished very well down the Korean board with a best of 70 on the final day.

Ramsay said: “This week it’s simple for me. I’m here to try and win the tournament and Race-to-Dubai wise I need a good finish so as to continue my season.

“So, a good result this week and all goes well, and I’m hoping it does, I can bring the family out to Abu Dhabi, so that’s the plan”.

Hill’s lying 52nd on the Race to Dubai and hoping to remain in the top-70 so he also will tee-up next fortnight in the $US 9m Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and if the Gleneagles-attached stays inside the top-60 post Abu Dhabi he’ll be heading a week later to the Race to Dubai final in Dubai.

Hill and Ramsay will play the opening two rounds in the same group, so there’s a kind of plus for the pair of Scots

Jamieson who, despite a bitter last weekend in Spain, moved up three places to 85th on the Race to Dubai though Jamieson also can well draw on his super share of third in the Korean event a year ago when he arrived lying 99th on the money list and left Seoul tied 52nd.

Making-up the Scottish foursome is Law teeing-up 130th on the Race to Dubai and who needs to be 114th or better if he’s to retain his DP World Tour card for 2025.
