Scheffler Undergoing On-Course Treatment For Neck Concern At Players

World No. 1 and defending champ Scottie Scheffler has been undergoing on-course treatment for what is believed a stiff neck on day two of the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.

Three times over his opening seven holes Scheffler has had a physio working on his neck with the first after paring the par-4 12th hole, he was playing as his third, when he speaking to a rules official while someone worked on his neck.

He asked the official if he could receive some Biofreeze, according to Sean Martin of the PGA Tour.

Then, two holes later, after holing a 10-footer for birdie at the par-3 13th, Scheffler went to sit in a chair beside the 14th tee instead of taking the honour, as he was entitled, to hit first with the honour. While sitting there, the 2022 Masters champion received a neck massage from a physical therapist, hoping to get it stretched out.

Meanwhile, Scheffler’s playing partners, Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler, proceeded to tee off while he underwent nearly five minutes of treatment.

Scheffler pared 14 but bogeyed 15 ahead of another neck masage on the tee at the par-5 16th, and the easily hole of the course and despite a poor tee shot and an equally poor second shot to the left of the green but getting up-and-own from 11-feet for a third birdie of his round.
