Scot Trio Will Waste Little Time Crossing The Equator After Securing 2026 DP Tour Full Status

The Scottish trio of David Law, Daniel Young and Ewan Walker will savour some valued time to celebrate before embarking on a newest chapter in the career after earning full 2026 DP World Tour membership status.

With the BMW Australian PGA Championship and the opening event of the 2026 DP World Tour season kick-starting in Brisbane on November 27th, Law, Young and Walker can be certain to head to Australia and then onto South Africa for the opening handful of pre-Christman events after securing top-20 Race to Majorca money-list finishes at the end of the secondary 2025 Hotel Planner Tour at Majorca.

England’s James Morrison won the Rolex Grand Final season-closing event by three shots with a 70 for a 15-under tally and with the effort seeing the 40-year-old regain his main Tour card, jumping 30 money list spots to sixth and well inside the top-20 to secure a 2026 main tour card.

A welled-up Morrison was asked what the win means to him said: ‘I actually have got no clue to be honest

‘When I said this was going to be my last event, that was going to be my last event, one hundred per cent.

‘This has completely messed it up.’

JC Ritchie became the first South African born to win the No. 1 Hotel Planner title after his seventh place on the Spanish holiday island tournament.

Also smiling broadly and a year after also his own bitter disappointment is Law who ended the year second on the money list while the Kingsbarns Links attached Young was 11th and Walker 13th.

Their efforts will now ensure 10 Scots, and headed by four-time DP World Tour winning Bob MacIntyre, will be out competing on the Tour and that’s the most in five-years after nine held DP World Tour membership in 2021.

Law’s return is most pleasing as it was a year ago when he endured the bitter heartache in losing his main Tour status and then headed to Majorca only to fall one shot shy in regaining full status 2025 status. Though that’s now well in the past with the affable Scot brilliantly returning to the main Tour in posting a closing score of 70 for six-under total at a 16-under tally and good enough to end a very proud second on the Race to Majorca money-list.

Law had the chance to top the money list, and if so, match the effort in 2002 of fellow Scot Marc Warren however a ‘moving day’ 75 soured that goal.

Law said earlier in the week:  “It’s amazing to know now I am heading back to the DP World Tour.  At the start of the season I wasn’t thinking about finishing first, as it was all about finishing in the top-20 and win back my DP World Tour card.

“I’ve enjoyed the year. It’s been great for me to see how much the Hotel Planner Tour has come on in the seven years I last played it.  So, it’s been nice to come back and play some tournaments I played in the past and also compete in some new ones.

“Coming into this week I wasn’t hitting the ball particularly well.  Didn’t play great in China.  Still trying to search for it.  I had a lot of chats with my coach Alan McCloskey back home. Just trying to find something that worked.

“Just so happy now to be returning to the DP World Tour”.

The Kingsbarns Links attached Young locked-in 11th place on the season money list after posting a closing round of 73 to end the event at five-under and after having been tied for the lead after two rounds.

Ayrshire’s Walker had led in Majorca after day one, was tied atop with Young post day two, was lying second on day three but a closing 71 saw him slip to a share of third place at 11-under and in the bigger 2026 DP World picture, he’s also secured a main Tour card by ending 14th in the money list.

Only disappointment was Calum Fyfe who ended his season with a share of 21st but dropping three places to 29th overall on the money list.

Looking back on the year it’s been a good year for Scottish Golf boasting four wins on the DP World Tour, and still two events remaining, and Hotel Planner Tour delivering three victories and two of those Law triumphs.

“I think it has been a very good year for Scottish golfers in general,” said Law to reporters. “We’ve had a few wins and I think we are in a good spot.”

As mentioned above, 10 Scots are now assured competing on next year’s DP World Tour headed by th seven DP World Tour automatic qualifiers Bob MacIntyre, Calum Hill, Ewen Ferguson, Grant Forrest, Connor Syme, Scott Jamieson and Richie Ramsay and now also including the trio from the Hotel Planner Tour.

It will be the highest number of Scots in five years since nine were competing on the 2021 Tour.
