Tartan Takeover In Majorca – Two Scots Tied For Lead & A Third Just A Shot Back In Rolex Grand Final

It’s become more like a Scottish takeover with two Tartan players leading and one other just a shot behind heading to the weekend rounds of the season-ending Hotel Planner Tour’s Rolex Grand Final in Majorca.

Ayrshire’s first round leader Euan Walker has been joined at the top on eight-under by four others including fellow Scot Daniel Young while David Law is just one shot behind the five in sixth place at seven-under.

Walker was struggling to be two-over through 14 holes when he superbly found the green with his drive at the short par-4 15th and then calmly holed the five-foot eagle ‘2’ putt in his round 71 and with Young dding a second straight 68 capped his day’s work with four birdies in succession.

Walker and Young find themselves tied with Dutchman Lars Van Meijel and Frenchman Felix Mory on the host Club de Golf Alcanada course on the Spanish holiday isle.

Aberdonian David Law, who birdied four of his closing nine holes, is now projected to top the Race to Majorca money list as No. 1 following his second round of 68 to be just one back of his two compatriots albeit sharing sixth place.

Law’s a two-time winner this Hotel Planner Tour season and had put himself brilliantly in contention to capture a third title some six weeks ago but now in this final event the Paul Lawrie Golf attached Scot could very well proudly step back up onto the DP World Tour as the year’s No. 1 given his strong position for third victory toast with two rounds to play.

Young hauled in eight birdies as he is now projected to end the third on the secondary tour money list, and with it the guarantee also of a 2026 DP World Tour membership badge to add to his belt buckle.

Young said: “Obviously, I would have taken four-under teeing-up but then the round was not quite as clean as yesterday.

“There were a few more birdies but also a few more bogeys, so a bit up-and-down but yeah, as I said, I would have taken four-under.  The conditions were a bit trickier today, with the wind making it a little dustier and making the front nine a little trickier and with all sorts of twists and turns off the mountains.

“Overall, it was a very positive day and now I’m looking forward to the weekend.”

Young need only to be among the leading 20 come Sunday night to be assured of joining fellow Scot such as Bob MacIntyre, Ewen Ferguson, Connor Syme and co next year on the DP World Tour.
