It was a case of a double dose of delight for Aussie champion golfer Cam Smith in playing the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
It was a first time this week Smith has returned to the famed Old Course at St. Andrews since capturing the 150th Open Championship in posting a blistering round 64 to win by a shot.
And Smith’s joy in officially teeing-up at near 10.30am earlier today local time in what was the third and final round of the bad weather reduced event, the Aussie’s joy being on the Old Course was boosted when he learnt from a friend that his beloved Brisbane Broncos Aussie Rugby League team had ended a 19-year winless dought to capture the Australian Rugby League title.
Smith learnt of the Bronco’s triumph, as he reveals in the video hereunder, while playing the fourth hole of the Old Course and on route to a closing round of 70 for an eventual share of 71st place.
DOUBLE DELIGHT CAM SMITH @livgolf_league ….
Not only returning @TheHomeofGolf & home to his 2022 @TheOpen win
