‘Rocky Ness’, as the 15th is known, is an absolute gem of a golf hole laid out it was by course designer Kyle Phillips in his construction course during the years 1997 to 2000 and a golf hole mirroring all that is good in playing Kingsbarns Links.
The 15th hole also has been a favourite subject matter among many golfing theme artists and now Baxter with a truly wonderful painting of the hole.
The hole boasts five tee as follows:
Tee | Yards | Par | S.I. | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | 212 | 3 | 6 | |
White | 185 | 3 | 6 | |
Green | 161 | 3 | 6 | |
Blue | 151 | 3 | 6 | |
Red | 110 | 3 | 8 |
The Kingsbarns pro tip suggests:
Regardless of the hole position tee shots should be aimed on the bunker back left and allow the slope to feed the ball into the centre of the green. The trees will often block out the wind from the left so take plenty of club and remember don’t chase the sucker right hole. Note: Tee shots onto the beach or sea can next be played from the Drop Zone just beyond the woods; penalty one stroke.
The green is located on the Rocky Ness; land projecting into the sea.
Footnote:
In a totally unplanned co-incidence Scotland’s Daniel Young was teeing-off in the 153rd hosting of The Open Championship at the very time the Graeme Baxter painting of Kingsbarns Links was being unveilved.
Young has been representing the club for many years now in competing on the DP World Tour and is competing in a very first Open Championship having qualified earlier this month at Dundonald Links.
