DeChambeau Declares Bradley Should Be Teeing-Up At Bethpage Park Black

Double major winning Bryson DeChambeau reckons USA Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley should be picking himself for Bethpage Park Black selection.

DeChambeau is presently among the leading six automatic USA Team qualifiers for Bradley’s team and only needs to put in a good showing at next month’s Open Championship at Royal Portrush to be assured of a third USA Team cap.

Suggestions Bradley should be a playing member of the USA Team looking to win back the Ryder Cup have been heighten by last week’s dramatic Travelers Championship triumph and if he does pick himself, Bradley would be a first in 62 years since 1963 when USA Ryder Cup captain Arnold Palmer led the Americans to a thumping 14 point victory over a GB & I side at the Atlanta Country Club.

DeChambeau was asked his thought on Bradley being a playing captain of today’s commencing LIV Golf Dallas.

“Personally think given how he’s (Bradley) played, I could confidently say he should be a part of the team for sure”, said DeChambeau.

DeChambeau is making his debut in the Dallas event and while looking to secure his place in Bradley’s team the 32-year-old is also chasing a fourth LIV victory and a second this season after capturing May’s LIV Golf Korea.

He was asked whether his performance in the majors this year – 5th at the Masters, 2nd PGA Championship and missing the cut in the recent defence of the US Open – was up to standard heading to Royal Portrush where he sat out the weekend rounds in 2019.

“Yeah, I’d say disappointed that I haven’t won one yet,” he said. “I’ve got to fine tune my game and focus on executing my shots the way I know I can on the golf course. I haven’t been doing that recently.

“A little bit more due diligence on my side of the coin. Not taking things for granted and focusing on what I can do to give myself the best chance to win at the British Open.

“Probably being a little more strategic that week”.
