Victory trophies!
It’s the reason sports stars compete and Shane Lowry is no different as he seeks an eighth pro career victory later today at the Truist Championship at the Cricketers Golf Club in suburban Philadelphia.
Lowry heads into the closing round of the $20m championship tied at the top on 14-under with fellow victorious 2023 Ryder Cup winning colleague Sepp Straka.
The Rome winning duo are at 14-under on the host Cricketer’s Club course with Americans Kevin Mitchell and Justin Thomas sharing third on 11-under.
Championship Sunday awaits …

Lowry played some superb golf this year capped by his second place finish to good friend and now Masters Champion Rory McIlroy at the AT & T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
And while Lowry teamed with McIlroy to capture last year’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Lowry is yet to win a full ‘individual’ regular PGA Tour trophy.
The 38-year-old ‘mature’ golfer is hoping that will change today.
“I feel like I’ve been like this for the past couple years, year and a half really. Since Ryder Cup in Rome, I feel like I’ve kicked on a little bit, and I’ve been quite mature”, he said.
“I’ve worked hard, though. I’ve put a lot into it the last two years — my whole career, but particularly the last two years. I’ve worked very hard. Starting to see some rewards is good. Obviously you want trophies, and that’s going to be my number one goal tomorrow.
“If it happens tomorrow, it would be great. If it doesn’t, I’ll dust myself off and go to Quail Hollow and try my best there. Yeah, one thing’s for sure, I’ll give my best.”
And what a new trophy awaits the winner of the Truist Championship – a silver cricket bat.
