A Lowy Career First Despite Bitter Disappointment Of Truist Championship Second

Despite the bitter disappointment of finishing runner-up in the $20m Truist Championship there was the reward of a career first for crestfallen Shane Lowry.

Lowry’s second place finish to Austrian Sepp Straka has seen the 38-year-old Irishman move inside the top-10 on the World Rankings for a first time in his 16-year pro career.

Lowry teed-up last week in suburban Philadelphia as the World No. 12 and his same then career high best as No. 12 in finishing T18th at the Valspar Championship in late March.

Prior to this year, Lowry’s highest World Ranking had been World No. 17 almost six years ago in capturing the 2019 Open Championship on home soil at Royal Portrush.

Now he heads into this week’s PGA Championship a career high of No. 10 in the World.

This week’s PGA Championship will be his 14th appearance in the major and with a best finish being T4th in 2021 while he was T6th a year ago.
