Make that 58 in a row!
Reigning PGA Championship winner and 152nd Open Champion Xander Schauffele has made it a remarkable 58 halfway cuts in succession at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in suburban Orlando.
It’s a effort that goes back to 15th May, 2022 when Schauffele finished T5th, that included a stunning final round 61, at the AT & T Byrson Nelson in Texas.
The 31-year-old Schauffele is competing in Arnie’s event for a first time this year since January’s The Sentry and being side-lined since Hawaii by a rib injury.
However an Bay Hill opening round of 77 didn’t lend too much encouragement to Schauffele playing all four rounds in Arnie’s event but then the 12-time pro tour winning American had no thoughts of taking the weekend off as he burst from the blocks birdieing three of his opening six holes.

We spoke to soon as the wheels came off big-time with Schauffele doubled both the 11th and 12th holes, dropping back to one-over for his round and six-over for the $20m tournament.
Schauffele bounced back with birdies on the 13th, 14th, and 16th holes in an eventual round of a one-under 71 to get back to four-over and two shots in side the expected six-over par cut.
As such, it extends Schauffele’s run 58 tournament in succession without missing a cut.
“It’s a cool thing. I tried really hard to not quit. Even today going double, double sitting in a really nice spot it was an easy time to get frustrated,” Schauffele said.
“But I said earlier in the week I’m going to have to go to a special place to play decent golf, and I had to dig deep.
“So it was good practice on that front.
“My caddy Austin (Kaiser) and I are proud of our cut streak, no doubt. Is it what we think about? No. But usually when you focus on winning you make a lot of cuts and end up somewhere in between.”
Well done, Xander …. keep it going.
