“Tiger’s The GOAT, So Absolutely” Declares Aberg

Newly-crowned Genesis Invitational champion Ludvig Aberg was all smiles in describing tournament host Tiger Woods the GOAT.

GOAT?  Not that Aberg was being impolite in calling TW a goat but GOAT here referring to: Greatest Of All Time.

And a superb compliment from the 25-year-old Swedish-born golfer after collecting a second PGA Tour title in 15 months and moving to the new World No. 4.

Despite the sadness in losing his beloved mother, Woods was a welcome surprise on the final day of the $20m event while there was no-one more surprised when Woods walked up behind Aberg to congratulate him after his closing hole birdie finish and win by a shot at 12-under on the South Course at Torrey Pines.

“Yeah, a little bit, absolutely. I sort of — I spoke with Tiger a couple weeks ago at the TGL in West Palm Beach and that was the first time that we really spoke, had a conversation”, said the smiling Swede.

“To win his event, he means so much to our game and to our tour, it’s really cool, it means a lot. And he is the GOAT, so absolutely”.

As earlier reported by GolfByTourMiss Aberg is the now the fourth European, and also a third in succession to win on the PGA Tour.

And to win early in a new season, and also with the Masters now a matter of weeks away is a great lift for the affable Aberg.

“Yeah, it’s really nice getting off to a good start. Obviously the season is long, but all we try to do is play as good as we can and prepare as good as we can for every tournament”, he said.

“It sort of takes away a lot of the early pressures, if you will. You don’t have to chase things. Getting a win means a lot to me and that’s — I was pretty bummed I didn’t get to win a tournament last year, but it’s really nice to be able to do it again.

“It’s almost addicting to walk down those last couple holes and just want to do it again”.
