Top-Scot Robert MacIntyre has returned home to Oban looking to recharge his golfing batteries after a ‘frustrating’ Hero Dubai Desert Classic finish.
MacIntyre managed 17 birdies but posted 11 bogeys in a six-under tally to share sixth place in the $9.4m event won by LIV star Tyrrell Hatton.
Hatton, 33, captured a second DP World Tour victory in five events after winning last October’s Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
Hatton said: “This win is up there with winning the Dunhill in St. Andrews and the only thing bigger would be to win the Open Championship and winning it also at St. Andrews.

“As a kid, I used to take days off from school to watch this event and now to be a winner of the event is amazing.
“I am just so happy as I just handled myself so well while to win so close after winning the Dunhill also makes it special”.
MacIntyre’s closing round was a mix of four birdies and just as many bogeys in a level par 72 to share sixth place with fellow Scot Calum Hill (74) and with the duo a shot back of Ewen Ferguson who nose-dived from contention with weekend scores of 74 and 74 for a seven-under tally.
MacIntrye teed-up in Dubai having played his opening pair of New Year events in Hawaii but he’ll only be home in Oban for a handful of days ahead of heading to the US West Coast for the January 31st commencing AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
He said: “The week was poor, and it was just one of those weeks where it was frustrating.
“I felt I got absolutely nothing out of the week, to be honest. Whenever I got a bit of momentum, I hit it up the face of a fairway bunker. Just frustrating.
“Overall, just a disappointing week. Yeah, plenty disappointing.
“There’s still plenty of gas in the tank after two weeks in Hawaii, so fitness-wise I could go out and play another four rounds.
“But then I played the eighth hole this week in three over par and I felt I’ve not played it poorly.
“I just got a lot of bad breaks but that’s golf and, as I said, just really frustrated right now after that, especially the finish.
“I’ll have a couple of days at home. I’ve got a pal’s wedding to attend on Saturday and fly back to the States on Sunday”.
OTHER SCOTS …
Connor Syme (last round 67) – 284
Richie Ramsay (73) – 287
Grant Forrest (83) – 302
