Scot Ewen Ferguson is seeking to better manage his ‘lifestyle’ by working closely with Andrew Murray – not the Scottish tennis legend but with Dr. Andrew Murray, the DP World Tour’s Chief Medical and Scientific Officer.
Ferguson, 28, tees-up at this week’s Hero Dubai Desert Classic as the reigning BMW International Open champion and heading into just a fourth full DP World Tour season of his career as a three-time Tour winner.
The Dubai-based Ferguson is also now a member at this weeks host Emirates Golf Club though the Majlis course has not been too kind to him, missing the cut a year ago and finishing T28th on debut in 2022.
However, the affable Scot is looking to turn that around in this week’s whopping $US9m Rolex Series event.

Ferguson said: “A first event of the New Year is always good as it’s great to walk on the range and meet and see so many people you know, and who you haven’t seen for a month or so.
“I’m really keen to get going, as I love this golf course and being a member here at the Emirates I will come out and will play as many nine holes as I can, but hopefully I can get the hang of it this week.
“Looking ahead to the year, I realistically feel that a win, a third win of my career, would be great and if I could pile on a few consistent finishes behind that would be good.
“So, that remains the goal to find that bit of magic to put myself back into contention and see what I can do from there.
And while Ferguson is a triple Tour winner, having won twice in his 2022 rookie season, it’s not been all that comfortable for the popular Scot battling mystery illnesses.
He said: “I have set myself some goals this year but they really are not to do with playing but more to do with my attitude, my lifestyle and such matters.
“I just found that last year I got a bit off track with those issues in my life and they were affecting my golf.
“I’ve been talking with Dr. Andrew Murray who is working out here for the Tour, so he’s been really helpful.
“Andrew is also Scottish, so I’ve chatted with him about my heart-rate along with health and wellness matters, so that I can keep myself more relaxed, more mellow, and not be putting too much pressure on myself.
“Last year, I was getting sick a lot and I didn’t know why so this is where my chats with Andrew I am hoping will be benifical”.
Ferguson is among a big contingent of seven Scots teeing-up this week in Dubai.
Footnote ….
The Edinburgh-based Dr. Murray is well-known to this writer having ‘bumped’ into his often during the course of attending Tour events.
Indeed, I had the great pleasure of being grouped with Andrew when we had the opportunity to play the famed Old Course at St. Andrews the day following the 2022 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
And would you believe that in no sooner filing this exclusive to the Daily Record and this website that I boarded the courtesy bus back to our Dubai hotel and who do you think was on the bus.
Yes, Dr. Murray.
I mentioned to Andrew that I had just been writing about him and he was delighted and fully supported everything that Ewen had mentioned to me, and also how much is enjoying helping Ewen shrugging off his ‘wellness’ concerns.
