Forrest Ends Steady Season Ahead Of A Bigger Life Joy

Scotland’s Grant Forrest ended what could be described as a steady sixth DP World Tour season ahead of looking forward to a biggest excitement in his life.

Forrest posted a closing round of 70 for a seven-under-par tally in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

The 31-year-old arrived in the UAE capital lying 58th on the Race to Dubai money list and needing to be among the top-50 if he was to travel the hour or so drive north to Dubai and compete in this coming week’s DP World Tour Championship.

Forrest left Abu Dhabi 56th on the money list and thus falling six places shy of teeing-up in this coming weeks whopping $10m Dubai season-ender.

However if he did move back inside the top-50 there was also going to be thought of what should he do if his wife Christy goes into labour.  You see, the couple are expecting their first child and with Forrest revealing to GolfByTourMiss and the Daily Record that the baby is due next Sunday – the last day of the DP World Tour Championship.

“We’ll just have to wait and see what happens”, said Forrest when asked what he would he do if his wife goes into labour.

So while Forrest will be naturally disappointed not to be teeing-up on the Jumeirah Estates course for a fourth occasion in the past four years there’ll be that enormous delight that he’ll be back home in Scotland when his wife gives birth.

Looking back on his year, Forrest contested 24 events and recording a third and two other top-10s.

The current World No. 180s best finish being a T3rd just on six weeks ago at the Open de Espana while a fortnight earlier he shared fifth place in the Irish Open. Forrest also finished top in this year’s US Open qualifier.

Wishing both Grant and Christy well.
