EXCLUSIVE – Forrest Reveals Expectant Wife Due Sunday DP World Tour Championship.

Top Scottish golfer Grant Forrest has revealed his expectant wife is due to give birth to the couple’s first child on the final day of next month’s DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Forrest and wife Christy were married in January in a lavish ceremony at Archerfield House and not far from where the couple now reside.

However, despite the wonderful out-pouring of joy at the wedding ceremony it’s not been, and by Forrest’s own admission, his best golfing season and capped by three top-five results, the best being a T3rd at the Irish Open while he finished T4th earlier in the season at the Australian Open along with fifth in the recent Spanish Open and also he was top qualifier in June’s US Open qualifier at Walton Heath.

Forrest is currently lying 53rd on the Race to Dubai money-list with earnings in his 23 events of £557,000 but still shy of last year’s best earning season of £944,062.

However, the now 31-year-old Scot can still make it a best season as he’s contesting next fortnight’s penultimate $US 9m Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and looking to be confirmed for the following week’s season-ending $US 10m DP World Tour Championship.

Forrest will head to the UAE capital later next week in readiness for November 7th commencing Abu Dhabi event where the top-70 on the money-list will tee-up and, if then among the leading 60 at tournament end, he will make the short drive north to Dubai for the final tournament of the year teeing-off on November 14th.

Though there’s a most joyful family moment he doesn’t want to miss and that is set to transpire three days later on November 17th back in his beloved Scotland.

Forrest said: “I’m going to head out late next week to Abu Dhabi for a few days practice, so I can get ready for that tournament.

“Christy is due the Sunday of the DP World Tour final, so we’ll just have to wait and see firstly if I have qualified among the top-60 for that event.

“Of course, if I don’t, I will be back home but if I do then we’ll just have to take it from there.

“We just don’t know at this stage”.

Whether or not Forrest tees-up in either of the closing two UAE events, it’s still been a strong season for the Scot and especially his third place at the Irish Open.

He said: “We had two good finishes with a third at the Irish Open and a fifth a few weeks ago in Madrid however before those results the year had been a bit of a struggle over the first part of the season.

“So, securing those two results took a lot of pressure off me, and whatever happens for what’s left of my season is a bit of a bonus.

“Though it’s also all about getting ready for this new family chapter in our lives”.
