McDowell Leads LIV Golf European Ryder Cup Victory Tributes

They may have been unceremonously ruled-out of selections but some of the legends of European Ryder Cup and now LIV stars have sung their praise of Luke Donald’s victorious Roman golfing gladitors.

Ireland’s Graeme McDowell, and competing this week on the Asian Tour in Singapore, took to social media and like so many of his LIV and former Ryder Cup colleagues to sound his joy.

Sergio Garcia, who fellow Spaniard Jon Rahm called on to be selected for Rome, put his feelings into his native tounge and when translated said:

“AMAZING TEAM EUROPE! Congratulations on a display of golf of the highest quality. Very proud of the entire team and that the cup is back in European hands!”

Lee Westwood’s simple message began with blue and yellow hearts and saying:  #Team Europe – Bloody brilliant.

Austrian Bernd Wiesberger, who played in the beaten 2021 Whistling Straits side, posted a tweet on Saturday wishing the team well.

There were no ‘public’ comments from the likes of potential future Ryder Cup captains in Ian Poulter, Paul Casey or Henrik Stenson.

However, it was revaled later on Monday that Poutler, and affectionately known in Ryder Cup circles as the ‘Postman’ and having often delivered Europe the winning putt, had posted a message of congratulations on his Instagram account saying:  “I couldn’t be more proud to see this great team win back the Ryder Cup.

“You just don’t see emotion like it at any other event. Enjoy the night lads and congratulations.”

Well said ‘Poults’.
