David Drysdale enjoys a double delight heading into this week’s Asian Tour International Series Singapore.
The $US 2m inaugural event is being played on the famed Tenah Merah course, a former Johnnie Walker Classic host venue (1996), and featuring major champions Charl Schwartzel and Graeme McDowell.
Drysdale’s returned to the island nation buoyed by a rookie Asian Tour season best of T3rd in last week’s Taiwan Masters, a most timely effort that saw him take a big leap to 46th on the Tour’s money list and with the next re-ranking to take place following next week’s Tour event in Macau.

As well, the Scottish golfer is buoyed as the last time he teed-up in Singapore was in 2014 and sharing eighth place in the DP World Tour event at nearby Laguna National.
“Last week’s effort was a great boost in confidence, and on a very narrow and tricky golf course”, he said.
“It was a golf course where you needed to be very patient and I’m proud of myself in securing a share of third as it was a very timely lift on the Asian Tour order of merit.
“As well, I recall the last time we were here in Singapore and that was nine years ago for a tournament at Laguna National. I played really well on the Sunday shooting a final round 65 and jumped some 20 places to finish in a share of eighth which was a great result.
“So, it’s a double delight being here this week and really looking forward to the week”.
Dyrsdale will play the opening two rounds in the company of Aussie John Lyras and South Korean Sanghyun Park.
