Welcome to ‘T-Squared Social’, a swanky new restaurant taking up a full New York city block owned by Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake that opens in downtown New York on Wednesday.
The 15-time major-winning Woods has teamed with Timberlake, who has sold over 88 million records and been rewarded with 10 grammys, have joined forced in building an upscale restaurant located in mid Mahattan on East 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue, sandwiched between the New York Public Library and Grand Central Terminal.
The restaurant, and formerly home to a bank, will take-up a full block.
Timberake is a big follower of golf, playing the game from an early age. In 2007 he purchased the nitially Big Creek Golf Course in Memphis and renamed it to Mirimichi, which locally means ‘a place of happy retreat’. Timberlake bought the golf course because he had played on it as a child. It was to have houses built on it, and he could not stand that idea.
However, after purchasing the course for a reported $UDS 16m he sold it in 2014 for just $US 1/2m
From 2008 to 2012 Timberlake also hosted the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Nevada.
So, it would seem that with Timberlake’s fondness for golf that he and Woods would adopt a golfing theme for their restaurannt and that is very much the case with T-Squared Social featuring four golf simulators, where guests can play some of the most iconic courses in the world, including Pebble Peach and St. Andrews.
There’s classic photographs of Woods along with plenty of gold bags on display.
The restaurant will also bost the Big Apple’s biggest indoor television, a 200-inch screen that can be split into four or, if the mood takes you, kept as one screen for one big event.
“Justin and I thought it would be cool to create a place that combines our favourite things,” said Woods.
The restaurant also has four bowling alleys along with a darts area. As the restaurant’s website reads, “It wouldn’t be a great bar without darts.”
Up to four players can play darts in each dart bay, as restaurant goers can bring their darts or use the ones provided.
The same concept applies to golf as well.
Guests can borrow clubs from the restaurant, and yes, they have sets for lefties and children too.
The restaurant website says everages can be consumed while playing golf, bowling, and darts. However, drinks don’t come cheap, and also let’s not forget it’s New York. Craft cocktails range between $21 and $25, while most draft beers—including Guinness sell rround the $US 10 mark.
The menu has many options, ranging from charcuterie boards to a raw bar, and chicken wings for appetizers. Salads, sandwiches, and the ‘Madison Avenue Burger’ highlight the dinner menu, while choices for dessert also exist.
But like other New York City establishments, T-Squared Social is not the cheapest of venues, yet it certainly sounds like a place where plenty of people—and golfers—can have a fun night out.
