Ryder Cup rookie Bob MacIntyre gestured to hurl his putter into the drink after a frustrating opening round at the Cazoo French Open in Versailles.
MacIntyre, and the lone Rome player in the French field, posted a no-frills level-par 71 to be well outside the top-70 heading the second round on the Le National course.
The Scottish lefty got off to a good start with three birdies in his opening six holes, including holing a 21-footer for birdie at the first, but he then proceeded to give the three shots back with hat-trick of bogeys from the eighth hole, including finding water at both nine and 10.
MacIntyre birdied 14 but dropped a fourth shot of his round at the 16th ahead of pars at the closing two holes, including two-putting the last from some 20-feet ahead of raising his putter in the air and gesturing to send it into water surrounding the final green.

No such concern for South Korea and World No. 18 Tom Kim signing for a stunning seven-under 64 that included braving steady rain to grab six birdies in seven holes from his 10th, and also on his debut in the event.
Kim, and among just four players inside the top-50 on the World Rankings, was later joined by Englishman Matthew Southgate, who also capped his round with seven birdies from his third to 12th holes.
Ewen Ferguson and David Law are the best of the eight Scots in the French field, each signing for five-under 66s.
Ferguson, also out in the morning rain, capped his round holing a 22-yard chip shot for an eagle ‘3’ at the par-5 third he was playing as his 12th.
Ferguson said: “I said to my caddie before I went out, ‘I need to keep my mouth shut today’ because if you start moaning, you never stop.
“The weather was that bad this morning and I know what I’m like so I just tried my best to zip it and grind it out as much as I could.
“I had missed a couple of chances on one and two, my tenth and 11th, and almost threw a strop but chipped in on the third for eagle from the left side on the green which was nice and gave me a little pep in my step that I needed and really picked me up”.

And England’s Graeme Storm would have wished for better effort than posting a 10-over 81, and on the occasion of his 500th DP World Tour event, however it is timely for ‘Stormy’ he should mark the tournament milestone in having won the 2007 French Open on the same Versailles course
