MacIntyre Superbly Regroups Moving Day At D + D Czech Masters.

Robert MacIntyre superbly regrouped to mend his Ryder Cup automatic qualifying goal with a rousing 66 on day three of the D + D Czech Masters in Prague.

MacIntyre was left shattered late on Friday in taking a 16th hole quadruple-bogey ‘7’ but regathered superbly on golf’s ‘moving day’ with a stunning 12th hole eagle and four birdies.

The Oban lefty moved into a share of 14th place at 11-under-par and trailing five shots behind the clubhouse leading duo of England’s Matt Wallace (67) and Finland’s Sami Valimaki (67).

MacIntyre capped his round hitting driver and 4-iron to the back of the 12th green and then superbly holing a 40-foot monster for an eagle ‘2’.

He said: “I thought after the hiccup on 16 yesterday that’s me well out of it, so I needed to get back into contention and pick-up points, so hopefully I am not that far away.

“I felt free and more relaxed knowing I had to dig deep and fight my way back up the board so today, it felt good off the tee while my short-game putting which is normally good, was good today

“Also, when I pitched-up early this morning it was raining and I thought ‘oh, no’ but it cleared-up and I got fairly lucky because when I stepped on that first tee the rain pretty much disappeared so that gave me chance and I took it.

“I just love a dog fight so that’s how I tackled my round”.

MacIntyre is lying third on Ryder Cup ‘European’ points list and with top-3 at the close of this coming week’s European Masters in Switzerland earning an automatic Rome pick.
